The Territory is seeking Expressions of Interest from interested entities capable of delivering grid-connected community-scale battery storage systems in the Canberra suburb of Jacka.

Through the Jacka Community-Scale Battery Initiative, the Territory aims to:

1. Support suburb-level electrification and Territory’s objective to phase out fossil-fuel gas without increasing peak electricity demand, as increased peak electricity demand can trigger expensive network upgrades;
2. Improving local grid reliability;
3. Deliver co-benefits to the community;
4. Provide support for the distribution grid to accommodate increasing solar penetration;
5. Apply downward pressure on electricity prices through avoided grid augmentation costs; and
6. Support knowledge sharing to help overcome barriers and challenges for the deployment of community-scale batteries.

Through this REOI process the Territory may shortlist suitably qualified and experienced entities to be invited to participate in a second stage- Request for Proposal (RFP).
