Each week detainees at the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC) are able to use their own funds to purchase, up to a set monetary limit, set non- perishable and consumable items (Consumable Items). Each month, they are also able to purchase convenience items (Convenience Items). The purchase of these Consumable Items and Convenience Items by detainees is informally referred to as the “buy up service”.
